Lead Paint
Consulting
Overview
In 1992, OSHA passed standards for the
construction industry relative to lead (29 CFR 1926.62.). Although many in
the industry are aware of the new regulation, the significance of this rule goes
unnoticed, and carried huge liability repercussions. The new standards
scope of work includes, demolition, renovation, alteration, and repair of
buildings where lead is present. Furthermore, the standard describes
in detail, the specific procedures to follow when disturbing lead
materials. The standard does not, however, set a limit for what level of
lead is regulated, companies or persons managing facilities constructed prior to
1978, should assume that lead paint is present.
